Taushiri
Taushiri means 'House of the Monkey' in Mayab-Lenka. The Mayab-Lenkas are indigenous to El Salvador and monkeys were typically associated with the scribes - men and women who were highly trained artists, writers and storytellers--I'm a Salvadoran artist based in San Francisco, CA, here to share my work on this blog.   1. Fight in the battle between the cities of Usiij Witz (Vulture Hill) and Sak Tz'b (White Dog). Based on the murals of Usiij Witz known today as Bonampak. 
  2. Maya market animal vendor with a macaw and dead rabbit. Based on a figurine of Jaina. 
  3. Warrior from Colima. Based on a figurine. 
  4. Pulque deity of Teotihuacan. From the deities head are maguey leaves whose points emit pulque. Based on a mural of Teotihuacan.
